How to Choose Grilles for Ranger, Hilux and D-MAX: A Wholesale Buyer's Guide

A wholesale buyer's guide to pickup grilles: OEM replacement vs LED and Raptor-style restyling, generation fitment, PP/ABS quality checks, and ordering tips.

The grille is the single most visible exterior part on a pickup: it sits at eye level, defines the face of the truck, and turns a plain workhorse into something a customer actually wants to be seen in. For importers and wholesalers that visibility cuts both ways — grilles sell fast when the style matches the market, and they sit forever when the generation or the look is wrong. This guide covers the four decisions that matter before you add grilles to your next order.

Confirm the Generation Before Anything Else

Grilles are the most generation-sensitive part on the truck, because the front panel changes shape with every facelift. Ford Ranger grilles split into T6 (2012–2015), T7 (from 2016), T8 (from 2019) and T9 (from 2023); Hilux Revo grilles cover 2016–2021 trucks; D-MAX lines divide at 2016–2018 and 2020 and newer. A grille built for one year range will not clip into another — the mounting points, the headlight sweep and the bonnet line all move between generations.
This is why the listing and the carton must both carry an exact year range, and why we check fitment per generation before quoting rather than after shipping. When a supplier's answer to "which years?" is a model name instead of a range, treat that as the first disqualifying answer.

Pick the Style Family Your Market Asks For

Within the pickup aftermarket, grilles come in three working families, and each one sells to a different customer:
OEM-replacement grilles copy the factory look in updated colors and finishes — black, white or the manufacturer's original styling. They serve owners who want to repair or refresh without changing the character of the truck, and they are the steady baseline line for general parts stores because every accident repair and every faded original is potential demand.
LED grilles build light elements into the front panel — accent strips, letter illumination or running-light details. They earn their shelf space for a simple reason: the effect is visible at night, in traffic and in photos, which is exactly where modification customers show their trucks off. They suit markets where the restyling culture is strong and social-media driven.
Raptor-style and restyling grilles re-face an older truck in the aggressive look of a newer or off-road flagship model — matte black, bold mesh patterns, deep silhouettes. They pair naturally with conversion kits and wide-arch styling, and they are the line that pulls the rest of the front-end catalog with them, because a new grille almost always sells a matching bumper and flare set alongside.
A balanced shelf carries one OEM line and one restyling line per platform. Our grilles range covers 27+ designs across Ranger, Hilux, D-MAX, Navara, Triton and more, so you can start narrow and expand by what actually moves in your market.

Compare Construction, Not Catalog Photos

Most grille quality problems start with material shortcuts, so the comparison that matters is construction. The grilles we supply are injection-molded from PP and ABS with UV-stabilized finishes, produced in-house and fitment-checked per generation before quoting. PP and ABS matter in practice: they hold shape under sun and vibration, they tolerate transport better than thin vacuum-formed copies, and the finish stays black instead of chalking grey within its first year of sun.
Ask every supplier the same three questions before comparing prices. What is the molding material and wall thickness — thin copies warp at the mounting points and whistle at speed. Is the finish UV-stabilized in the material, not just sprayed on. Do the clips and mounting points come finished and complete, so the installation is a thirty-minute job instead of a fabrication project. Consistent answers make quotes comparable and keep your return rate predictable.

Order the Way Wholesale Actually Works

Availability first: roughly 70% of the grille range is in stock, and in-stock grilles can ship as single pieces — useful if you test demand through dropshipping channels — or mixed with other product lines in one shipment. Either route lets you read the market before tying capital into a mixed pallet, which is the order of operations most new importers get backwards. Made-to-order items typically run 2–4 weeks, confirmed by product and quantity before you commit.
Branding second: if you sell under your own name, custom logo options are available from 60 pieces per item, which puts own-label grilles within reach of regional dealers, not only national chains.

The Step That Protects the Sale

Before any order, send your supplier the truck list you are buying for — model, year range and the style you want — and get fitment confirmation in writing. It is one email, it costs nothing, and it removes the generation-mismatch risk this guide started with. You can contact us to start that confirmation or request the trade catalog for the full grille range.
To go deeper per platform, see our Ranger, Hilux and D-MAX parts pages, and read our guides to choosing fender flares, our fitment-first approach, and Ford Ranger body kits — because a matched grille, flare and bumper set is what makes a front-end restyle look complete on the trucks your customers drive.
